What is the product's composition?

Polypropylene

Can it be used for interior application?

Yes, however it is not fire rated and local codes must be checked.

Can it be used as roofing?

No, except Mansard Roofs of 9/12 pitch or greater.

Can it be used on tall commercial or apartment buildings?

Yes, however Nailite products have only been tested up to three stories and is only warrantied accordingly.

What can be used to cut Nailite siding?

A circular or table saw with a fine toothed blade in reversed position.

Can siding be applied directly to studs?

No, due to uncertainty of stud locations.

Can siding be applied over insulation or construction board?

No, must be applied to a solid substrate such as exterior grade plywood or particle board no less than 7/16” thick.

Can siding be applied over foil insulation board?

No, it will void the warranty.

Does foil backing go against the house or against the panel?

Foil cannot be installed against the panel.

Will siding expand and contract?

Yes, as much as 1/8 inch per panel.

What is used to attach siding to wall?

Standard non-corrosive (galvanized) 1˝” roof nails, or longer.

Are there any temperature restrictions for application?

Siding should not be installed in temperature below 40°F. NOTE: Siding can be installed in slightly colder temperatures if siding is stored indoors at above 40°F temperatures until its application.

How is siding finished around doors and windows?

By the use of Nailite’s J-Channels.

How much waste should one calculate when determining requirements?

A good rule of thumb is 20%. However, actual wall shapes and sizes will cause variances.

How do you apply siding into inside corners?

By butting J-Channels on adjacent walls.

What is the thickness of the panels?

0.090” (90 thousandths of an inch)

Can the panels be painted, and if so, with what type of paint?

Yes, we recommend acrylic lacquer paints.

What can be used to clean the panels that will not hurt the finish?

Mixture of clorox and water, or readily available products at specialty paint stores for siding. Always test a small inconspicuous area for color retention.

Should anything be applied to siding to protect it? (i.e., water, sealer)

No, our sidings are made for exterior use and treated with UV blocks.

Can special colors be made for a premium?

No, special color orders would be very difficult to control and future replacements with standard products would not match.
