Two Styles
Aluma Vent awnings are available in two styles: the Valance and Regular end. Choose whichever best fits your taste or the requirements of your particular installation. Energy Savings
Remember how hot your car gets when it's tightly closed in the hot summer sun? That's what happens under ordinary awnings. Trapped heat can't go anywhere—except into your house through the window. Not so with Aluma Vent ventilated awnings. Heat can't collect under them. Temperatures next to windows stay lower, just as your hot car cools when windows are opened and ventilation is possible. That's why Aluma Vent awnings help keep your home cool.
Air conditioners also benefit from ventilated awnings. No heat accumulates under these awnings. No heat seeps into the home. Since room temperatures stay lower, air conditioners needn't work as hard, and you save money.
Selection Tips
After measuring the height and width of the window, three
dimensions need to be selected; the width across the window,
the drop for your awning, and its projection.- There are no hard and fast rules for selecting the exact awning but these guidelines should help. The drop should be approximately 1/2 the height of the window. The projection should be about the same as the drop for most window awnings. The width the same as the window, keeping in mind the ends of the awning will need to be fastened to something solid.
- Select the projection and drop desired from those listed in our catalog. (Keep in mind many additional drop sizes are available - call for details.) To this, add for the desired style of ends. One or the other style of ends must be used to give the awning structural integrity.
EXTRA BRACING: Appropriate bracing is included for awnings up to
8' in width. For awnings beyond 8', extra braces should be
ordered. On projections 57" and longer, posts, overhead
bracing, or extra support will be needed to support the
awning. These items are not included, and must be ordered
seperately.- DOOR CLEARANCES: This gives you the mounting space required over the door, if you desire to open a 36" door under the awning. A lesser space than the one given, will result in the door striking the awning when opened. If you do not have the required space, you will have to double pitch the awning, or use a valance type end. In either case you will need a minimum of 4" over the door. The valance end awning is the simplest and most economical installation where you do no have the required clearance over the door.
